A temporary visa for individuals who are engaged to an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who are outside Australia.

The Partner visa combines a temporary and a permanent visa into one application. The temporary visa is granted first, allowing the partner to live in Australia for a specified period of time (usually 2 years). After the couple has been in a genuine relationship for at least 2 years, the permanent visa can be granted.

The common criteria for Australian Partner visas

To be eligible for a Partner visa, the applicant must be able to provide evidence of their relationship with their partner, including proof of cohabitation, joint financial arrangements and a history of shared experiences.
